I’ve crocheted my contribution to the Yarndale bunting. The only thing left to do was to steam block them. I’ve only ever steamed bits of the Paintbox blanket so this was a first time event, with me poised with pins and my ruler!
Before and after the steam blocking method. Magical hey?!
I went in to see Somebody and waved the two blocks in front of his face, lifting them one at a time saying “Before…After…Before….After!” with a bit of an I’ve-blocked-these-at-last kind of flourish.
And the response?
“Wow! It’s changed the colours too, that’s really clever!”
I kissed him. Really it seemed the best thing to do.
Some could be pulled out straighter and pointier but then they would have been more than Lucy’s specified 7″ across. My tension’s quite relaxed and happy, like I feel at the moment.
Hurray! I’m not really a bag of half finished items kind of person; so it’s great to have these neatly stacked and ready to go.
This project has made me realise I am also relaxed and happy hooker :-)
I was steam blocking for the first time and it’s ab=n absolute revelation. Glad you enjoyed these triangles as much as I did.
They are so pretty, I’m hoping for a picture some day soon of them with all the other little yarny triangles of pure joy in their new woolly home… :-)
PS. If you don’t like having a bag of small pieces lying around, why dont you send me some of those Jan Eaton squares you’ve been busy with? You see, there’s this CAL thing I joined a few months ago…….
You my lovely = Failed.com
Haha, you just have to love those responses. Happens here too, bless him.
The bunting looks very jolly, just right.
Do you make witty comments like that when he brings you fish?? Very lovely bunting, like the colours. I shall have to get my pins out next time I press my cal blocks with the steam iron before I photo them…. Do it properly!
Hover! Don’t press them, just give them a facial.
He’s laughing.
Have been and read the bunting instructions and steaming tips now. So glad I have my new purple (NOT pink), very steamy iron.
Lovely bunting Rachel – nicely ‘hoovered’ – love ‘His’ comment as well as all the others I’ve just read! Got to keep that sense of humour!
Joy x
Okay, I LOVE this bunting! It reminds me of the colors in Mexican art :) BTW, I have some vintage crochet stuff I’d love to send your way. I’ve yet to craft a dress from that lovely pattern you sent me because I’m a total slacker ;) If you email me your addy, I’ll send that crochet goodness your way :) …Cassie
Thanks Cassie :-D
I’ve emailed you.
Hoping to get to see the final effect all these gorgeous colourful triangles have once they are all joined together.
Love the colours – and the blocking really did make them look brighter! =D
Fab Rachel – can’t wait to see them at Yarndale – which day are you going. I’m going on Satruday x
these are so gorgeous!
Wow… That is amazing … I hope mine doesn’t change colors when I block because I didn’t make as many as you did ( ah, ah! ;) .
I’m going to try to finish mine this weekend and send it as soon as Lucy posts the address so mine can get there on time.
I love all your colors and how pretty they look after blocked :)
