Having begun to have a proper catch up of my favourite blogs again I thought to throw The Blackberry Ripple (at last it’s no longer the ‘Unnnamed Ripple’) down to take a quick snap to show you what I’ve been up to. I finished the Squares and Stripes blanket last week and didn’t play Yarn Chicken at all. Hurrah! The bottom is actually the top, as I crochet it, and I see I didn’t lie it down really flat, but I think that’s ok. It’s been a long while since I regularly read any blogs on a weekly or even monthly basis. Now I’ve cut down on other social media I’ve found myself coming back to the blogs I’ve followed for years. I appreciate the story telling, like the sense of recognition when I see people and places I’ve seen many times before. The familiar scratched table or comfy sofa with piles of yarn and mug of tea is somehow comforting. Also I’m interested in what the Americans are writing post-election. I’ve been thinking I should maybe start to blog more again. It’s still enjoyable. It feels like a good community to belong to as we share snapshots of our lives.
There was an item about it on the Radio2 news this afternoon and intrigued I logged on to look at Martha’s blog(along with hundreds of others; I’ve never seen a blog counter increase as fast!) You must look too. Read and look at the pics from her first post at the end of April to today…. and beyond….
If you are also impressed with what this clever girl has accomplished then make a donation to Mary’s Meals.
It’s Saturday morning and I’m sitting up in bed checking out some of my favourite blogs, sipping from my pint mug of jasmine tea and waiting for the latest copy of Let’s Get Knitting and Crafting magazine.
I looked in three shops yesterday and none of them had the mag, so today is the day!
It’s baby focused which doesn’t really excite me but the magazine usually has some small and fairly mixed patterns, for beginners and intermediate crocheters and knitters. I’m looking forward to a new supply of yarn. It’s not the greatest quality but is good for practising new stitches and designs.
By the way; do check out the latest from Lucy of her fab Attic 24 blog and look at what she’s made now, she makes me laugh with her kooky designs.
I love this subversion of the original.
In other news: Mr Scrappy will be made up this weekend. Also the Hilton crochet is complete, that also needs to be crocheted together and the ends darned in…that is NOT going to be a fast job.
I can hear the front door opening. I’m off to grab my mag!
