Crochet & Scheepjes Whirl Giveaway!

A few weeks ago a representative of Rito Yarn and Hobby contacted me to ask if I would like to try any of their products. Rito Yarn and Hobby is a Danish online retailer, which recently opened in the UK. They sell over 15,000 products, so in theory I had my work cut out choosing what to try; except in my last post I had just mentioned

Coveting: one of those big colour change balls, you know; by that company that no one can spell or properly pronounce…..?

Ooh, do they stock Scheepjes yarns?

YES, THEY DO!

Sometimes things just feel serendipitous, don’t they?

I think Kasper from Rito was probably quite taken aback by the speed of my reply! I looked at the available shades and asked for Scheepjes Whirl Yarn Print 753 Slice O’ Cherry Pie, plus how about another one so that I could offer a giveaway to my readers?

I’d spotted this gorgeous diamond patterned crochet by Bella’s Crochet Corner on IG a while back, so when I received my Whirl I bought The Palmyra Diamond Wrap pattern by Daisy Boo Creations.

This was the first new crochet I’d done in over four months, since I injured my hand. Stupidly instead of setting my 10 minute timer on Friday, I got carried away. By the end of a thoroughly enjoyable time, getting to grips with the new pattern, I’d crocheted for over an hour. My hand is very sore…

I’m going to have to take it very gently, so don’t expect to see a finished wrap any time soon. But on the bright side; it’s going to be really good making something exciting and new while whenever I can pick up my hook again.

Scheepjes Whirl is a cotton and acrylic blend 4 ply yarn and I’ve found it very pleasant to crochet with, especially in our current warm summer weather. I love the colours and can’t wait for the change from pastry to the pinky cherry juice of the pie!

Rito Yarn and Hobby are offering a free ball of Scheepjes Whirl, Slice O’Cherry Pie to a lucky reader within an EU country.  I’m really sorry this cannot be an international giveaway, but apparently they can only ship to EU countries.

So, for a chance to win please leave a comment below telling me what you’re currently crocheting or knitting.

For an extra *bonus entry* go to my  The Little Room of Rachell Facebook page and leave a comment under the post about this giveaway and ‘like’ the page (the overall Facebook page, not the post.) For a *second bonus chance at winning*, follow my Instagram account and comment on my crochet pic.

I’ll use a random number generator to pick the winner and will contact them to pass on their details to Rito Yarn and Hobby. By taking part in this giveaway you agree to being contacted by me via your email address. I will not use it for any other purpose or share it with anyone. If efforts to contact the winner have been unsuccessful after a week, an alternative winner will be randomly selected.

The giveaway is open now until Friday 31st August at noon (GMT.)

None of the links in this post are affiliate links and it has not been sponsored by Rito Yarn and Hobby, although they did send me a free ball of yarn.

**31/08/18 14:40 CONGRATULATIONS: Nana Cathy YOU ARE THE WINNER!**

I used this random number generator website and it picked number 1. Thank you to all who took part.

  1. Woah! I lurve this yarn!
Actually today i went to the wool shop and bought some lovely yarn for a train journey project. Its going to be a shawl and Im going to start it the night before and pavk it in my bag, settle onto the train and hook happy!

  2. Other than several blankets that have been on hold for too long, I am crocheting a market bag for myself. What a gorgeous scheepjes (which just tried to auto correct to Schweppes!!) whirl. Maybe you should keep your timer in the top of your project bag so you definitely remember to set it next time… Though thinking about it I guess you might just use a timer on your phone… So that wouldn’t work! Thanks for setting up a giveaway for us too… That’s always fun 😊

  3. I’d love to win this! I’m actually using a Whirl at the moment to make a scarf, which I’m hoping to finish before the end of the school holidays :)
Hope your hand feels better soon, and thank you for the giveaway!

  4. Ooh! Pretty! I really shouldn’t but…
…I’m currently knitting a pair of lacy bedsocks for daughter #2. Rather pleased with how they’re turning out (I’m still a newbie when it comes to socks!) Next on the needles will be a cabled pair for daughter #1. Yes, I’m feeling bold…

Please do take care of those hands. We can’t risk you being out of action any longer!

  5. Ooh I’ve been curious about this Yarn for a while now! I’m currently knitting the Jaycee cardigan by Isabelle Kraemer, a cable scarf for my boyfriend and a pile of half finished socks are waiting to be worked on as well!

  6. How cool to be asked to test their yarn! I love that ball and how the color changes.. and what is more delicious a color than cherry? I’m working on my Woodland Blanket still.. with a baby hat and a little blanket for my nieces new baby boy in the middle of it all. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  7. Ooh you lucky thing! I’ve always wanted to try a Whirl.
Right now I’m crocheting a rose blanket in memory of my Grandma, a broomstick lace cowl, and an amigurumi dragon, and I’m knitting a blanket to go to a local dog shelter. Busy busy!

  8. Ooooh. I’ve always wanted to try that yarn. I’m not currently crocheting anything right now as I’ve JUST moved and all my stuff is in boxes but I did finish a lovely lap blanket recently.

  9. Currently working on Memory Lane Blanket (designed by Dedri Uys). I have a whole list of projects waiting for me – many of them Christmas gifts for my grown daughters.
Thanks for the opportunity. I never win anything – I’ll keep my fingers crossed!

  10. I’ve just finished a CtM crochet blanket and 2 twin grandson cardigans, and, having vowed not to buy any more wool until i’ve finished a few more wip, would love to win this.

  11. Beautiful! I’m currently crocheting 2 baby blankets and 2 lion mascots; while trying to finish a jumper I’d started (Carbeth) and several singleton socks! I need 3 weeks off work to have a good catch up I think!

  12. The yarn looks lovely and I’ve knit with Scheepjes yarn before – a pretty little cropped cotton cardi My main current focus (from many WIP’s) is a boxy style sweater in 4 ply Alpaca yarn

  13. Looks like a fun project! I’m knitting a Single Stripe Sweater by Debbie Bliss with some Sandnes Garn, Babyyull Lanett (a treat I picked up in Denmark on hols this summer) :)

  15. What a lovely color … I am currently working on a scarf for one of my sons but this color would look lovely for me… Take care of your hands. I am sorry you are having to go to specialist but hopefully they will have a better idea of how to help you.

  16. Great giveaway , I’ve a few wip on the back burner , but couldn’t resist staring the latest from LBC , having just finished the mug cosies from Lucy’s last project I was so eager to start this one , I’ve just rekindled my library card and was delighted to pick up ” three things about Elsie ” so reading wins over crochet at the moment

  17. I am currently knitting – a pair of socks and a tea cosy and crocheting Lydia blanket square and another tea cosy!
